Vidkid Timo's Online Diary

The diary of Vidkid Timo
a testament of my insanity

It was another typical day... but very cold, which is kewl, cuz it rarely seems like winter here.

After our daily errands, Philip started decorating the house in the holiday theme while I went to get a little time on the treadmill at Le Club. Cute David (the musician) was there. I gladly rubbed his sore shoulders when he gone done working out. He's too sexy, that one. But the most pleasant, least expected surprise was running into Ken K. (who had a small cameo role and a huge production assistant role in MARDI GRAS COWBOY)! I hadn't seen him in about three years... before I started dating Philip. Seeing Ken felt like an early Christmas gift! I wasn't even sure Ken still lived in New Orleans... but he does. Ken drove me home and I brought him upstairs to meet Philip... and to see how nicely Philip lit and trimmed and detailed our place. Everything is done now except for the tree itself.

James T. (formerly known as JPaul) and his boyfriend Brandon drove in from Baton Rouge. They invited us to see BAD SANTA. They were gonna meet us at our house, but they were running a bit late so they said to meet them at the theatre. Philip bought tickets and went to grab seats while I waited for James and Brandon. A few minutes later Philip called on my cell phone and said that the movie was starting, to get in the auditorium... so I did. No sooner did I sit down that the Baton Rouge-ians called us to say that they arrived... but BAD SANTA had sold out! So they got tickets for GOTHIKA.

I must tell ya... I did NOT think I was gonna like BAD SANTA. It seemed like a one-joke, idiot comedy (which are perfectly fine when you're in the mood for that)... but this movie surpassed all my expectations and actually moved me to tears! This movie was directed by Terry Zwigoff who also made the fascinating documentary CRUMB... and the teen-angst black comedy GHOST WORLD, both of which I enjoyed. The producers of BAD SANTA included the Coen Brothers (they also helped develop the story)... and if you're a close friend of mine you might know that the Coen Brothers made one of my favorite movies of all time, RAISING ARIZONA, which I saw three times in college... and I cried at the end each time! So yes, if you like dark comedies that can also tug at your heartstrings, you will love BAD SANTA... and if you don't, you're probably related to the Grinch.

After the film ended, Philip and I waited in the hall for James T. and Brandon to get out of their flick. We then all went to Cafe du Monde and had beignets and hot beverages... gabbing 'til all hours. The boys had to go back to Baton Rouge since they work on Sunday... or they certainly could've crashed on our futon.

Philip and I watched some documentary about the Japanese building a man-made island-airport before going to sleep together on this Saturday, December 6th, 2003.
