Vidkid Timo's Online Diary

The diary of Vidkid Timo
a testament of my insanity

Lots of stuff happened today but I'll only focus on two things...

Firstly, while visiting Allan today I spoke with his cute brother on the phone. Later Allan told me that his brother said that he loved my Southern accent... that it was "like buttah". My voice / accent (to me they're both part of one thing) has always been one of my least favorite qualities of mine (superficially, that is). It's always so odd being complimented on what you believe to be a negative bit... and by someone you'd like to get compliments from... very odd, indeed.

And lastly, I need to talk about ANGELS IN AMERICA. The second half of the made-for-HBO mini-series aired tonight. I saw the first three hours of the six-hour-long play back in 1997 at the Contemporary Arts Center. I had no idea I'd be waiting six years to see the conclusion... but it was well worth the wait. I must also give thanks to the brilliant and beautiful Justin Kirk for showing his big ole penis in the first half (last Sunday). I first saw Mr. Kirk's cock in 1995 when I saw him on-stage in LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION! on Broadway (I was fifth row, center). He didn't show his willy in the film version of that play... but several of the other men did. Anyway, he showed it in ANGELS IN AMERICA and I'm grateful for his bravery. I admire people who bare their bodies but I really admire people who reveal their souls while baring their bodies... and Justin Kirk certainly does that through his acting. I also want to say that Patrick Wilson is too pretty for words. He totally drew me in with his acting (he played the Mormon guy who left his wife)... and he ain't too hard on the eyes neither! Oddly enough, he'll play "Raoul" in the film version of the musical I just saw last night, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (with a scheduled release for next year). Jeez, the whole cast (with and without nude scenes) really did a spectacular job.

Well, I guess I want to talk about three things today instead of the two I mentioned. I'd like to say how much ANGELS IN AMERICA moved me. The notions in it aren't entirely new to me... I must admit, many of the metaphorical themes have crossed my mind... just not nearly as poetic as Tony Kushner (the writer) was able to express them. I guess I'll just stop there and let you all watch it and hopefully it'll strike some cosmic chords for you, too.

That's my entry for Sunday, December 14th, 2003.
