and

b. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.

What's so wrong about that? I don't believe there is anything wrong with being liberal.

I also don't believe there's anything wrong with being conservative. It takes all kinds... diff'rent strokes to move the world, yes it does.

The problem in politics and government is when these personal attitudes are used to shape policies and laws... and opposing opinions are made to look wrong... when they're not. They're just two sides of the same coin.

It seems very plain to me (an ultra-loose liberal) that conservative laws allow for only conservative behavior... which is unfair to liberals.

Liberal laws, on the otherhand, are more permissive, which let liberals be liberal, legally... and it lets conservatives be conservative. That is the very essence of freedom... the freedom to choose. Do we live in a free country or what?

If you support resrictive laws, then you alienate the people who disagree with those views... but if you support laws that are generous... then everyone is able to do what they feel is correct and behave as their beliefs dictate.

Please don't just endorse laws or leaders that mirror your philosophies... because you are not the only person (or type of person) living in this great melting pot. Please be tolerant of more ideas... before we start to resemble a fascist state.

It is possible for us to all live together and get along. Be respectful and understanding to others' differences... and don't try to limit freedoms. Let freedom ring!
